Here's some text and photos of the extension of this cave. http://lincolncaverns.com/pages/photo_a ... -discovery Nice plug for the MAKC, Nittany Grotto and especially us...the Cave Hill Grotto. It was alot of work but good fun. Work continues in a pit complex....stay tuned! :waving:

I was up there in the winter of 1981 with Steve Hall and John Ganter. The owners were looking to connect the two caves together. We found what to appeared to be a connection, but it was mud filled. Perhaps the mud filled passage we found in Whispering rocks (it has an arrow on the wall pointing to the mud fill by a previous explorer) was not leading there after all. Has the pit on the back of the property been thoroughly worked? I remember also, the owners drilling a well, and hitting another passage about 90 feet below the surface near their home. When they hit it, another well was drilled in another location. Congradulations on an excellent find! I would love to see the new discovery, but since I am considered "John Q. Public", I am sure it is off limits.

That dig has been dubbed the "Hall Dig"....looks to head right toward known cave. I believe that's why it hasn't been worked on much since the early/mid 80's. The pit on the back of the property I'm thinking is Salamander Cave. We extended that one last year and there's work happening in there too. No tourist trips into Whisper's extension..."pushing" currently on break! :waving:

How would one get to see the newly discovered passage? As I recall, the passage could not be made passable for tourism purposes. For the record, I am not a "tourist". I have been caving for 43 years. We currently have a dig going in Greenbrier. Two different areas and LOTS of air. Looks promising but looks like lots of work also.

The cave is a little muddy! Dave "Moonshiner Dave" Miller, Alan Leedy, Linda "Wonder Woman" Pook, Tim Long after a trip to de-rig the traverse and pit area.
