TX Orientation to Cave Rescue - March 15 & 16

Postby Tim White » Jan 3, 2008 3:25 pm

The South-Central Region of the NCRC has just announced a two day Orientation to Cave Rescue (OCR) March 15 & 16 at Colorado Bend State Park, TX .

One of the goals of DJ Walker, the South-Central NCRC Regional Coordinator is to increase participation between emergency response groups and the caving community. Both of these groups have tremendous attributes that need to be brought together. Accident victims can only benefit, if these groups identify how they can help each other. There are many emergency response organizations that know very little about the cave environment. DJ feels it is important for those TX agencies to identify the abilities of cavers and how cavers can help. At the same time it is important for cavers to know how they can fit into the official emergency operation.

A flier and registration form can be found at ncrc.info. PDF link here.
Be safe,

DJ and his crew are first rate instructors. I made the 12-hour drive down to Colorado Bend from Kansas to take the weeklong Level One last year. It was a blast! I wish they were going to repeat a weeklong this year but can understand the need to expose more rescue groups to the caving environment and gear.

Should be a fun time, and highly educational.
