SUKHUMI, February 23 (Itar-Tass) - Rescue workers searching through the mountains of Abkhazia have found bodies of three Ukrainian speleologists, who were earlier listed as missing.

A special group of emergency workers of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry began the search February 20 with the assistance of Abkhazian cave rescuers, guides and hunters.

A mixed Russian-Ukrainian group of speleologists got into trouble in the Veterok cave in Khypsta village in southeast Abkhazia February 1 when a snow avalanche went down a mountain slope.

One of the group, Danila Nassedkin, died, while another three people – Maxim Gerassimenko of Sevastopol, Igor Bednikov of Samara, and Dmitry Chernenko of Novaya Kakhovka were listed as missing.

The incident occurred at an elevation of 750 meters above sea level.

The rescuers had to struggle with a very complicated relief of the area and thick snow cover while the search for the group was in progress. ... &PageNum=0 CAVERS, CAVES & CAVING PHOTOS
