Just received a copy of Caves of Tennessee and Descriptions of Tennessee Caves from Tagkycaver and they are awesome books. So much information on so many caves....including general location, some maps and descriptions...WOW. I just wish there was such a book for Georgia and Alabama.

Well, there is Alabama Caves and Caverns, 1973, 2.2 inches thick. It has 45 pages of material in the front that include the coordinates. The bulk of the book consists of cave maps, one per page, with no text descriptions.

I assume this book is out of print and extremely rare? Correct? Or does someone know where I can purchase a copy. And yes I checked Amazon and the NSS Bookstore.

The Guide to Speleological Literature indicates that there is also a 1981 edition of Alabama Caves and Caverns. The 1973 edition went to cave number 1421. The 1981 edition goes to 2016. There are maps for most Alabama caves, even if they are only sketch maps. The map pages in both editions are not numbered and nobody wants to count them. There are probably 1000+ caves in the 1973 edition and 1500+ in 1981.

You could always just join the Alabama Cave Survey. It has all the data and you can log on to the web site and look at topos with all the points.
